Chapiro is heavily right eye orientated, he tries always to keep me on his right side when we work at liberty. I do believe that this is another reason for one sidedness in horses but is something that can go completely unnoticed unless you get into the minutae of liberty work.
I've been using CT to redress the balance and try to keep him on MY right and not let me keep me on his right, it's coming along and yesterday I filmed our work and you can see how it's coming along. We still have a long way to go but I think by using the touch cue for touching my hand I now have a way to keep him focussed on the tricky side but also a way to achieve bend at liberty (for instance in the shoulder in).
I'm quite excited.
